Having a robust data protection strategy for your small charity or community organisation is key to ensuring you safeguard the personal information of everyone you interact with whether they are service users, partners, donors, staff or volunteers.

Join us for this introductory session to learn more about data protection legislation, including the new Data Use & Access Act (DUAA) 2025, and how to embed best practice and principles in your day to day work to ensure compliance.

*Understanding Data Protection legislation: Find out more about GDPR and the new Data Use & Access Act (DUAA) 2025 and what they mean for your organisation

*Identifying Personal Data: Learn to recognise different types of personal data and how to handle them securely

*Consent and Transparency: Understand the importance of obtaining consent from service users and maintaining transparency about your data practices.

*Service Users' Rights: Learn about the rights granted to individuals under data protection laws and how to address their requests effectively

*Data Protection and Privacy Policies: Discover what should they include & how should they be shared and communicated

This is an introductory session - no prior knowledge necessary

This course will suit those with specific data protection responsibilities such as managers, project managers, trustees and communications staff but all are welcome.

Course format

Group introductory training webinar

This session is an online live-format webinar. As with all of Superhighways' online training, there will be some interactivity, which may include asking you to contribute to the chat, take part in polls or join a short breakout session for a conversation with other participants.

Joining by video will give you the best possible experience - but isn't essential throughout.

We may ask you to introduce yourselves. There will be a chance to ask questions.
